Colour-activation and corner-rounding station with central water injection
A high-performance surface-treatment unit for bulgur production plants: after the drying and cracking processes it gives the bulgur a natural, vivid and homogeneous yellow colour, clears its surface of micro-dust and rounds its sharp corners, bringing the product to a premium commercial form. With the synchronisation of sophisticated water injection and mechanical compression, a smooth, glossy appearance is achieved without disturbing the bulgur kernels’ structure.
WORKING PRINCIPLE
Specially engineered rotor — axial advance and compression: the bulgur mass fed from the intake hopper into the machine is received by rotor paddles whose geometry is drawn by a special engineering technique; while carrying the product toward the outlet, the rotor simultaneously subjects it to controlled compression (static pressure). Central spray-nozzle system and corner rounding — water injection scrubbing: into the bulgur densified in the compression chamber, a set proportion of finely atomised water is injected by a special spray-nozzle mechanism right at the rotor’s centre; the moistened kernels rub against each other under high pressure (by friction), clearing their sharp corners and rounding. Precise gate control and natural yellow colour — colour activation and discharge: the combination of friction and moisture breaks the matte of the bulgur surface and activates its crystallised natural yellow colour; the smooth bulgur kernels that have reached the desired values pass through a weight-controlled discharge gate and are delivered without loss to the next packaging line.
KEY ADVANTAGES
- Central water injection (spray-nozzle) technology: Instead of spraying the tempering water from outside, it is injected directly from the rotor’s central axis into the very heart of the product mass; this technology guarantees an extremely even distribution of water onto each bulgur kernel and prevents sludging.
- “Retention Time”-adjustable discharge gate: The counter-weighted mechanical/pneumatic discharge gate at the outlet sets the bulgur’s residence time in the machine and the compression pressure it is exposed to; this allows flexible pressure setting for different bulgur calibres (pilaf-grade, kofta-grade, coarse, etc.).
- Flexible process and calibration management: The precise mechanical adjustment assemblies on the machine let the operator easily modify the targeted gloss, yellowness index and corner-rounding values of the finished product.
- Maximum gloss at minimum energy: Owing to the optimised inner chamber and a reduced-friction rotor-paddle design, it runs at minimum motor power and energy use in maximum-capacity regimes without interruption, compared with traditional polishing systems.
ENGINEERING NOTE
The Bulgur Polishing machine is a critical aesthetic and physical transformation unit that directly determines bulgur’s market value and shelf appeal. The moist micro-climate created by the spray-nozzle system at the rotor centre and the static counter-pressure formed by the discharge gate ensure that, without breaking the bulgur kernels, only the bran residues on their surface are scraped off and smoothed. This controlled friction also directly helps the bulgur avoid releasing starch during cooking and stay grain-by-grain fluffy.
