CONICAL DUST CYCLONE

Heavy-duty mechanical-protection, conical-flow pre-separation station

A high-efficiency pre-filtration unit for the aerodynamic separation of the dense dust, light waste, husk and foreign matter carried by an air stream — used above all in the raw-material reception and grain-cleaning sections of flour, semolina, pulse and feed mills. Working on the centrifugal-force principle with no moving parts, this rigid-body system radically lowers the dust load on the main (bag) filters in central aspiration lines.

WORKING PRINCIPLE

High-speed air-dust mixture intake — tangential dense entry: the air mass with dense dust, organic particles and foreign matter, drawn by an external aspiration fan or pneumatic system, is forced into the cyclone’s cylindrical upper body tangentially at high speed. Centrifugal force and downward flow — centrifugal vortex effect: the cyclone geometry gives the incoming air a strong vortex motion; the dust and waste molecules, far heavier than the stream, are flung to the walls by centrifugal force; losing speed, the solid particles rub against the walls and descend in circular motions toward the conical bottom. Airlock discharge and clean-air outlet — bidirectional stable discharge: the waste accumulated at the conical bottom is discharged dust-tight through an airlock (rotary valve) integrated beneath the cyclone, to preserve the static-pressure balance, while the cleaned air accelerates upward through the wide-diameter vertical pipe at the cyclone’s centre and is exhausted out through the stack.

KEY ADVANTAGES

- Zero-energy mechanical separation: Because it runs entirely on aerodynamics and gravitational acceleration, operating cost is zero and the risks of failure and maintenance downtime are fully eliminated.

- Maximum protection for central filters: It captures dense, coarse dust at up to 90% efficiency before it reaches the main-filter line; this pre-separation success keeps the jet-filter bags from clogging, extends their life and stabilises the plant’s overall aspiration flow.

- Flawless pressure isolation via airlock (rotary valve): The airlock integrated into the lower cone reliably prevents the inner vortex air from escaping outside or outside air from being drawn in, offering a stable pressure balance.

- Wear-resistant rigid-body geometry: The conical and cylindrical walls exposed to constant high-speed product and dust friction are made of high-strength thick sheet with a low wear index; the weld-free smooth inner surface prevents product sticking.

ENGINEERING NOTE

The conical dust cyclone is the first line of defence for air quality and environmental sanitation in industrial plants. The upper body’s inlet diameter and the central vertical discharge pipe’s diameter are calculated to a precise aerodynamic ratio so that the incoming air forms a reverse vortex on the inner axis and climbs upward. The precise sealing of the airlock at the lower outlet ensures the artificial vortex core inside the cyclone is not disrupted and the dust settles fully to the bottom without escaping upward.
